Our Story

Soon after our founders Monique Dozier and Qi’Shanna Patton began working on nonprofit events together, they realized they had similar mindsets about expanding mental health services for Black women. Hundreds of text messages led to months of phone calls, which resulted in a unified mindset that birthed The Mental Wealth Collective.

Monique Dozier, LCSW

Co-founder

Monique Dozier is a licensed therapist and the founder of Journey to Genesis Mental Health Services. She has worked as a social worker for over a decade, and after years of supporting clients at various hospitals and nonprofits, she is redirecting her talent and experience to where her passion truly resides: her own community. She experiences first-hand the struggles Black women, especially Black caretakers, face on a daily basis.

As a mother to two vibrant, empowered girls, she also understands how necessary it is to build ourselves up higher than the world could ever tear us down. Now having built this private practice for herself and other Black women, she's realized her community needs more than a safe space to process. They also need a community of similarly experienced women to practice the skills learned in therapy and assist with navigating the intricacies of life.

Qi'Shanna Patton, LCSW

Co-founder

Qi'Shanna Patton maneuvers throughout the world as a clinical social worker, college professor, wife, and mother of two. Though most of her clinical career has been dedicated to supporting families of color, she has always found time to invest in various social service agencies and nonprofit organizations.

Her therapeutic work with families has taught her the importance of implementing a holistic approach alongside experiential methods when providing treatment. Ultimately, Qi'Shanna finds unwavering gratitude in creating partnerships with her clients, solidifying her belief that change created together is far greater than what we can create alone.
